Daylight Saving Time 2017 ends on Sunday, November 5th.

Now is a great time to schedule tasks that we really need to do annually, but tend to put off or forget to do.

Order a copy of your credit report.

According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) you can order a free copy of your credit report from annual credit report.com https://www.annualcreditreport.com/.  After what happened with Equifax, you might consider placing a credit freeze on your files, according to the FTC.   Since banks, insurers, leasing offices and potential employers all check your credit report prior to doing business with you, it is a good idea to know exactly what it contains.

Inspect your emergency kit

Check your emergency supply kit for broken or expired items and replace them. If an emergency happens, you’ll be glad your gear is working when you need them the most.  Don’t forget to check your car survival kit and get it ready for cold weather.

Refresh your first aid kit

Cold and flu season are soon to arrive, so you might want to replenish your cold and flu supplies.  Dispose of expired medications in your bathroom cabinet or first aid kit according to these guidelines from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  Check out these money saving tips for building your kit.

Get some apartment maintenance tasks done

  • Change your air conditioner’s air filter or ask your landlord for a new one.
  • If you haven’t changed them this year, change out the batteries in your fire and carbon monoxide alarms.
  • While you’re at it, replace the box of baking soda for a clean smelling fridge.
  • Clean out your balcony garden:  remove spring annuals, dead foliage etc.  If you are in an area with a long growing season, replace with fall and winter hardy plants.

Get these chores done this weekend – you’ll be glad you did!
