Today is just a quick post so I can share an interesting article I came across.
Living in isolation for nine years
The story I heard was about the Dutch family waiting for the end of time for 9 years.
Apparently the father, and his children with ages ranging from 18 to 25 had lived in isolation at a farm for nine years, waiting for the end of time. They were self-sufficient, with livestock and vegetable garden. The family was discovered by the authorities after the eldest son escaped and ran to the local pub. He was dirty and confused. None of the children had been to school. Having had no contact with the world for nine years, he wanted to “end the way they were currently living.”
This reminds me of the movie “Blast from the Past” about a man who was raised in a 1950s bunker who goes out into the outside world for the first time. The movie is fun to watch and had a happy ending but of course that is just a movie.
In the real world tale we’re discussing, a 58 year-old man who lived on the property, possibly a caretaker, was arrested for refusing to cooperate with the investigation. This makes me wonder what was going on in their minds when they decided to shut themselves from the world nine years ago. It’s great to be self-sufficient and prepared, but use common sense.
