A local news story last week featured a local martial arts training school that started classes on taking down a mass shooter.  There was a lot of interest in the neighborhood, the school instructors decided to expand the number of classes.  Ever since the attack last December in San Bernardino, California, people have been thinking it can happen anywhere, anytime.   Unfortunately, another shooting has occurred in Kansas.

This past week, I re-read John Forsythe’s Fight Flight or Hide:  The Guide to Surviving a Mass Shooting.

Fight flight or hide

Fight Flight or Hide:  The Guide to Surviving a Mass Shooting is an e-book that you can read very quickly.  Store it in your smart phone and read it while waiting in line, at the airport or during lunch at work.  Although it’s a quick read, there is no shortage in knowledge to be gained that could potentially save your life, or someone else, if you are ever in such as situation.  Understandably, these situations can terrify even the most rational people and cause them to panic.  The author does a good job of stepping back and pointing out facts to make you think rationally and not fatally accept that you’ll die if you are in a mass shooting situation.  He shows three potential roles – victim, guardian or hero – you may find yourself in an attack, and the best way to survive.

Whether you are pro-gun rights or not, this book is useful in getting you to think about possible scenarios, and the tips given are practical and applicable regardless of your views.

The book is available for $2.99 on Amazon Kindle.  Remember you do not need a Kindle device to be able to read e-books, you can download it to your computer or smart phone.  Pick it up today and read it this weekend!
